Exhibition Announcement: Eat & Drink

29 Sep 2023

The new exhibition Eat & Drink will open at the Clippership Wharf on Thursday, October 26th. ClipArt Gallery is located at 65 Lewis Wharf, East Boston, MA 02128. The exhibition will showcase the paintings of four New England artists, whose works explore new views of eating and drinking.

The artists are Marian Dioguardi, Paul Kerepka, Mai Mai Pietrowski, and John Rufo. This dynamic art venue is a recent addition to the Boston art scene, directly on the Boston Harbor.

The opening reception at the waterfront gallery will be Thursday, October 26, 6–8pm. The catered event will be open to the public, a time when visitors can also meet the artists and curators. The gallery is a short walking distance from the Maverick Station on the Blue Line T. Street parking is also available.

The exhibition will run from October 26, 2023, to April 6, 2024. Regular gallery hours are Saturdays 12–4pm and other times by appointment.

The show is organized by the Atlantic Works Gallery of East Boston. The two curators are Maryellen Cahill and X Bonnie Woods, both artists and Chelsea residents.

The artists, in alphabetical order:

Marian Dioguardi shows the playful chaos of drinking vessels in colorful oil paintings. Dioguardi now works in Newton, MA, but spent childhood years in the family home only a few blocks away from Lewis Wharf in East Boston.

Paul Kerepka is a still-life artist whose paintings are also a form of household landscape. His table-top scenes using bold organic forms, diagonals, and light create a presence of stability and timelessness. Kerepka works in Pelham, NH.

Mai Mai Pietrowski shows a joyous view of everyday gastronomy. The painterly depictions of pastries and other edibles gush with color and tickle the eyes. Pietrowski’s studio is in the Boston South End.

John Rufo presents everyday objects in a private, quiet space. Simplified forms such as the common coffee cup become contemplative and serene parts of an enhanced awareness. An architect as well as graphic artist, Rufo works in Needham, MA.

All four artists awake our senses and bring their unique views to our everyday eating and drinking rituals. The ClipArt Gallery on Lewis Wharf is one of the newest Boston galleries, organized by the Atlantic Works Gallery since 2019.
